Food and Treats
Your rabbits diet should be 80% hay, 10% greens, 5% pellets & 5% healthy treats.
Hay
Hay is very important because it helps with digestion and it also helps to wear down rabbits teeth.
Fresh hay should be the majority of your bunnies diet and should be available to them at all times.
Timothy, grass or oat hay is best!
Greens and Veggies
Rabbits enjoy a variety of greens and vegetables.
Wash them and make sure they are free of pesticides.
When introducing new greens and/or veggies, do so in small amounts.
You can even grow your own bunny garden to help save money in the summer.
Look on the back for a list of bunny safe options!
Pellets
Even though pellets are a cheap and easy option, they should be used as an addition to your rabbits diet, and not the majority of it.
Look for pellets that are high in fiver and low in protein.
Pellets high in protein can lead to obesity and other health problems, especially in older rabbits.
Treats
Bunnies love treats, but just like us, they should be given sparingly.
Fruit is your best option for a treat, but again only give in small amounts due to sugar content.
Some options are: strawberries, raspberries, bananas, apples (no seeds)
Some store bought treats are good but be cautious of ones that are high in sugar and/or fats.
